There are an estimated 800,000 patients in the United States who suffer from moderate to severe symptoms of DPM whose symptoms are not reduced through traditional approaches like medication. The spinal cord stimulator business is a $1.8 billion dollar industry.

Medtronic’s Intellis rechargeable neurostimulator and Vanta recharge-free neurostimulator for diabetic peripheral neuropathy have secured premarket approval based on existing clinical data and real-world evidence. It is said that this approval is “likely to have a positive impact on treatment awareness and bolster overall market development,” especially given Medtronic’s extensive Diabetes salesforce and knowledge.
